Students welcomed in Incorporation Rites

The University held its Incorporation Rites last August 13 to welcome the freshman batch of 2009. The annual event was organized to officially receive new students into the University. It was marked by the imposition of the beca, signifying the student's affiliation to a particular school or unit. Each student received a beca in the color of its unit—white for CAS, yellow for IT, and drab for EM.

Mr. Joseph Parcon of the Office of Student Affairs officiated the ceremony. He likened UA&P students to "hardworking sailors on the galleon that is the University of Asia and the Pacific," challenging the freshman batch to meet the high expectations set by the University.

Atty. Jose Rafael E. Agaab of batch 2001 was invited to give a talk to the CAS freshmen at Li Seng Giap, while Mr. Haresh Daswani spoke to the EM and IT freshmen who were at the Dizon Auditorium. Atty. Agaab recounted his experience as a student and emphasized the importance of developing and nurturing the virtue of diligence in one's professional life. On the other hand, Mr. Daswani said that students should find a good balance between studies and recreation.
